  • Cafe Whispers and Autumn Posters: What’s Happening in Cultural Kraków This Week?

Dear Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

If the historical figures who patronize our rooms were looking for inspiration after a lively literary debate, they would undoubtedly head towards the events shaping our city’s cultural pulse this week. As Kraków enters the grand finale of a rich cultural week, we have curated the most exciting highlights you can still take part in!

The Final Days of Literary Heritage: The Conrad Festival

The 18th Joseph Conrad International Literary Festival is in full swing, but the excitement is far from over! If you wish to experience the atmosphere of classic intellectual salons and engage in discussions under this year’s theme, “Disobedience”, the festival’s key debates and side events await you.

  • Where to go? The festival map covers the very heart of Kraków – from Potocki Palace at the Main Market Square (the hub for main debates), to publisher booths and author meet-ups at EXPO Kraków (hosting the International Book Fair), down to the charming literary cafes of the Old Town and Kazimierz.

World Opera Day & Autumn Edition of Opera Rara

For lovers of the performing arts and classical music, we have a captivating recommendation. To celebrate World Opera Day, Kraków’s music scene invites you to two extraordinary productions that promise a true aesthetic feast:

  • October 25 (Łaźnia Nowa Theatre): An intimate and moving performance of Robert Schumann’s dramatic poem “Das Paradies und die Peri”, performed by the renowned Capella Cracoviensis under the baton of Jan Tomasz Adamus, featuring guest artist and distinguished soprano Anna Prohaska.
  • October 29–30 (Wesoła Immersive): Arnold Schoenberg’s iconic masterpiece “Pierrot Lunaire”, brought to life by Tabea Mitterbauer and Spółdzielnia Muzyczna. A must-see for fans of expressionism – a work that redefined musical theatre at the turn of the 20th century!

Golden Autumn in Krowodrza: A Stroll Around the Neighborhood

After an evening filled with artistic experiences, we invite you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful, sunny autumn weather. Our neighborhood – Krowodrza hides delightful green spots that shine in shades of gold and copper this time of year.

We highly recommend a leisurely stroll along the paths of Marek Grechuta Park (Park Krakowski) or heading towards Jordan Park. It is the perfect moment for a morning coffee on a bench amidst the rustling leaves, soaking in the unique charm of autumn in Kraków.

We look forward to seeing you in the hallways of Hostel Deco – may your week be filled with art, great literature, and golden autumn walks!
